Site Description
Eden Dock is located at the Centre of Canary Wharf development in London and is a key focal landscape feature. The area was launched in 2024 as initiative to provide greenery for locals, promote biodiversity and water quality in urban areas.
The eastern end of the waterbody is a public space, which combines landscaping, green space planting, artwork, access to the water and open water swimming.
Project Brief
The ISS Flowthrough team was commissioned to lead the design, engineering, and installation of a bespoke water aeration and mixing system for the dock. The system required needed to:
- Maintained dissolved oxygen concentrations throughout the water to improve water quality.
- Prevent water stagnation and odour generation.
- To support fish stock and other aquatic organisms during periods of low oxygen concentrations.
- To prevent ice formation in the winter that may lead to winter fish kills.
The Solution
In April of 2026, the ISS Flowthrough team travelled to Eden dock, London and installed a custom dock aeration system comprising of 19(no) rubber membrane diffusers to efficiently mix the entire dock. The system was fitted with ISS Flowthrough regulators, ensuring it remains self-balanced and the correct volume of air is distributed throughout.
